I remember
the first day of kindergarten
mom would never leave me ‘unless I was ready

I remember
the classroom so dark
eyes staring blankly at me

i remember
the teacher so calm, as the children ran with excitement
she was just too good to be true
I wish my nightmare was over

I remember
there’
that girl in the back corner of the room
blond hair, blue eyes
alone.

I remember sitting by her
a tear rolling down my pink, pale cheek as my mom left me
the girl so sweet
we played for hours on that first day of kindergarten
we became friends
best friends
still

my mom left me in that cold, dark, frightening room
with my best friend
that made every part of going to the first day of kindergarten,
worth it
we will never part

You laid there just looking at me, as if it was your final glance!
I grabbed your hand, looked to the sky, and said, Please One More Chance.
I remember the day of the funeral, All of our family and friends!

I remember when the preacher said, When one life ends, a new begins!
Before they put you in this ground, I walked over to see you one last time!
I kissed your lips and held your hand, and One More Chance went through my mind!
I asked God Why not me, Why you, and what I did so wrong?

He said everything has purpose, And that life must be lived on!
So I live it on this very moment, Always remembering the day!
That God sent me My Angel, And then took her away!

So many memories you left to trace,

And for every memory we see your face.

For the path you took was not up to you,
